Cadillac please resolve this dangerous issue!
I have had all four (4) exterior door handles break off my 2007 Cadillac Escalade. The kicker is that the Honolulu, Hawaii Cadillac dealership (possibly the worst customer experience I have ever had) takes NO responsibility for resolving the the issue.
I would STRONGLY advise anyone considering purchasing a Cadillac to look for another make of vehicle. This problem should have been an easy warranty repair considering all four handles broke off with less than 60,000 miles. Instead Cadillac decided to loose a customer for life by their rude service and lack of product support.
Bottom line; we now have two (2) BMW's in the garage and I will never purchase another Cadillac vehicle.

My first exterior door handle broke off, I have never heard of any vehicle have a broken exterior door handle, period... But at about 83,000 miles my passenger side front door handle broke loose from the vehicle.
I contacted the dealer and was quoted $300+ to repair the issue. I then did a search on the internet and found this to be an ongoing issue with numerous owners, and many multiple broken exterior handles. So then I contacted GM/Cadillac, after numerous dialogue with them a rep stated I could take my vehicle to the dealer and have the handle replaced at no charge to me, I was like great, they even set it up with my local dealer. I TOOK OFF WORK, went to the dealer only to find out, the rep was mistaken, the dealer stated they could replace the interior handle(because of a chrome plating issue), but NOT the exterior broken handle, I would have to pay the full cost of that on my own $300 plus. I was a bit furious, because I did note where some personnel where able to get there exterior handle replaced at no cost( It all depends upon the dealer).
I eventually looked up how to replace the part on my own, bought a replacement handle off the internet for roughly $50, and I did the work myself, it took about 30 minutes. Six months or so went by, and another handle broke loose from the vehicle, this time the Passenger side rear handle broke loose. I contacted Cadillac again, to make a complaint. I received a call back, and the rep., said what would you like us to do, I stated "I would like for you to have my handle replaced at no cost to me", the rep. stated that this was not a safety issue and this is the only way a recall can be issued. "I stated if I was in an accident and someone tried to get me out of the vehicle from the outside and they couldn't because the handle was broken, or broke loose, is this not a safety issue?" And was told "NO, this is not a safety issue". And they asked me again "what would you like us to do?" This dumbfounded me, after my second handle broke, I contacted Cadillac to "Make a Complaint", and their response to me was 'What do you want us to Do?" I let the Rep. know, I contacted you to make a complaint, I already knew nothing was going to be done, to answer your question, "File the complaint" is what I want you to do. I bought the second handle myself and did the repair, and the company I bought me handles from, they offer a "WARRANTY" (AmParts is their name). So at least I have some piece of mind.
I never did get my interior handles replaced, like I said, when the dealer explained to me that they could replace them at no cost to me, I didn't have an issue with them at the time. My wife cut her finger on the drivers side interior handle about 6 months later, so I was going in for my scheduled maintenance OIL Change, and requested that the dealer replace the interior handle, the dealer looks at the mileage of my vehicle (104, 000), and states "you are outside your mileage for this safety recall, your vehicle must have less than 100,000 miles at the time you bring it in for us to replace them at no cost to you". Go Figure, a door handle come on GM/Cadillac.

Since I bought Cadillac escalade, I Have replaced all 4 door handles at least once. Like I said you would think this luxury vehicle would be made with high quality materials. For the price there sold at compared to non luxury vehicles who's door handle never break off. I went to the dealer to purchase another door handle and asked if this was a common problem for the escalade. He said no, don't have many people come in for door handles. Which I didn't think was not true.

This is the 3rd handle that has broken since I've owned the car which has only been about 10 months, and 18,000 miles. this is a real safety problem, the dealer where I have the car serviced said "they replace a lot of them" and now I'm over the warranty period. I'm 68 years old, don't have any kids hanging on them. "This is definatly a Mfg. defect" and should be taken care of GM!, No questions ask. A $60,000 car should not have repeted problems like this!! I would think they would want to correct a problem like this ASAP, not just let it keep happening over & over, what kind of PR, customer support is this!, it's no wonder the american auto makers are having problems keeping there customers and there bottom line.
