Escalade

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Two linked complaints with this car. Check engine, Stabiltrak disengaged light alternating on display. Originally the problem apparently caused the transmission to fuse together in a direct drive manner allowing the car to move but terrible mileage and cost $8,000 to get the transmission etc. replaced at the dealer. The car worked for awhile then same light sequence with the car falling out of cruise control again. Same exact symptoms. This time at about 120,000 miles it took replacing the internal engine oil pump. Again thousands of dollars. But this time it actually returned the car to getting normal "for an escalade" gas mileage and the engine actually stays in cruise control. I truly feel if they had replaced the oil pump properly on the original complaint I would have avoided the transmission problem. Oh ,,, forgot to say they also replaced the fuel pump at one point thinking that was the problem. Unfortunately, when they reattached the new fuel pump they did not connect the fuel lines properly. Sure enough about 500 miles out in the middle of Kansas the fuel line detached and stranded us on the highway. That was another$800.00 to replace with tows etc. and dealership in Boulder paid the second time fix because the screwed up the first fuel pump connection, which then had to be re-attached at the Ford dealership in Kansas. MacPherson KS. did a great job re-attaching the fuel lines.
