Escalade 6.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

The Escalade started having odd issues. It would loose all power and then come back in a few minutes. After about the third time I found myself stranded as the battery was dead. I tried to jump starting twice. All the lights would come on but the engine would not turn over. Long story short... the faulty negative battery cable shorted out the battery, which was 3 months old. There is a general issue with GM regarding faulty negative battery cables with a ground short issue. After replacing the battery and the negative battery cable, the issue was resolved. I replaced the cable myself, which took about 2 hours. My father in-law had the same issue with his Silverado. It cost him a new battery and the shop charge (to replace the battery cable) was over $500.

Other symptoms include, features turning off without user interaction, like traction control and not being able to turn it back on. All door locks go up and down rapidly and loss of overall control, including acceleration. Limp mode.
