Escalade Luxury 6.2L V8

I bought my 2015 Escalade ESV on May 27th, 2021 from GO INDY AUTOMOTIVE in Indianapolis, Indiana. I test drove it and everything appeared fine. I filled it up with 87 octane gas from BP on the way home. It drove nice and fine for the next week, as I also put Shell 87 octane gas in it. Around the 5th day, I was driving and my Escalade stalled and shut off on me. I was astonished honestly, but I placed it in park, turned it off and started it back up. Meanwhile, I had no idea that the recommended gas was premium or 91 octane and above. On day 8 of ownership, I put more 87 octane in the tank from United Dairy Farmers in Sharonville (Ohio) on Mosteller and Crescentville Rd.

The next day, I was driving and noticed some rough idling as I was about to pull out of my driveway. It began to drive a bit rough as I went on. My trip was short so I went back home and parked it until the next day. On day 10, I was driving to church and as I was coming off the highway exit, it began to drive rough again, this time the acceleration was low. What should have been 55 mph was 40-42 mph. I made it to church and as I pulled into the lot, the vehicle shut off again!! I put it into park, turned it off and started it back up. I parked it for a few hours and when I went out later, had my mechanic buddy take a quick look. He fired it up, although now it was rough. He asked what kind of gas did I put in. I told him 87 from UDF. He said their gas is cheap and recommended that I put some additives in it.

I immediately drove about half a mile up the street to O'reilly's and as I pulled in, it shut off again... and this time it stayed off for good. For the next hour, I had attempted to start it, eventually burning out my starter. I had my vehicle towed (after 10 days of ownership) to 2 different auto repair shops who were unable to diagnose the issue (the first because my starter was bad, wanted to charge me $500+ to put new starter on; the 2nd due to not having diagnosed at all, but ran a compression test and told me my engine was bad). Over the week that it went down, I replaced my own starter while my Escalade sat in the 2nd shop's parking lot (they were too busy to get to me within a few days). Also, my battery died as a result of trying to start it, so I had to get it charged. I bought a OBDII scanner tool, cranked and fired the Escalade up (cranked for about 3 seconds)... it ran for about 20-30 seconds and then it shut off. I pulled the code... P0016... CAMSHAFT/CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CORRELATION (TIMING OFF) So, I told the shop about the code and waited to hear back from them. Well, I dropped my car off on June 9th, 2021... it was not until June 15th, 2021 that they finally were able to pull my car into a bay (after many calls and update checks). They proceeded to tell me (again after many calls) that my engine was shot... NO WAY!!! I had just fired this baby up a few days ago. So my mechanic buddy and I deduced that there were a few issues resulting from this code... A) BAD CAMSHAFT SENSOR; B) LOW OIL LIFE; C) BAD CRANKSHAFT SENSOR; D) TIMING CHAIN WAS OFF. We replaced the camshaft sensor, but only a long crank, no start. That's where we left off. We are now about to replace the timing chain, sprocket. Needless to say, I am incredibly disappointed. Stay tuned...

Update from Jun 20, 2021: I forgot to mention, when the engine shut off (each time prior to the final shut down at O'Reilly's) there were no indicators or lights that came on. The only times a light came on was when I was driving a few days before the issue came to a head. The check engine light flashed and then went away. The next time the light came on, it stayed on and that was after I had attempted to start my vehicle multiple times the day it went down.
