While getting our Escalade aligned, the service stated the front driver strut was blown and needed replacement. They showed me where it had leaked all of its grease out and needed replacing. Told them to go ahead and replace it, and they stated they did not have that strut available, so I called the seal ship and they had it on back order and would be a few months. Called all auto parts stores, out of stock.

I ended up having to order it online to be able to get the strut and have to do it myself. Luckily, I have worked on many cars and knew I could do it. The strut from Cadillac was around $700, for just the strut not the assembly. Ordered online for $550 for whole assembly, and will be replacing passenger side as a precaution, with the same part since they have a warranty with them and save a headache from later.
