What happened to the day of being able to fix a headlight for $ 15.00?

The SRX headlight design was attractive in 2004 but, the design led to water leaks and cloudiness. This also caused my ballast to go bad. WTF do they have a ballast anyway? Because then you can charge $ 600 when it fails!!! Key word: when
