I was going to get an inspection sticker and the vehicle would not pass because of an emission problem. Cylinder 4 was misfiring.

The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic five times who was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure occurred intermittently. When pulling up to a stop sign or light the engine shut down. Did not have brakes or power steering. It did this anytime when driving below 35 mph. Vehicle was taken to GMC dealer 6 times. They have changed egr valve, installed a recorder for 20 days, cleaned piston washers, they flushed fuel injection system, and changed crank shaft sensors. But problem recurred. The problem started on August 20, 2003.
