I checked the engine oil level the evening before I was scheduled to take the car in for it's first oil change. When I checked the dipstick it showed no oil on the dipstick at all. Since the car was parked on a slight uphill I turned the car around and waited 15 minutes to check the oil again. This time there was only a slight sheen on the very bottom of the dipstick. I immediately purchased one quart of the recommended oil and put it in and the level on the dipstick was still below the minimum oil level. I took the car to the dealership and relayed the problem and they said they would check it out. When the service was completed I asked if they found a leak and they said there was a 'nick' in the filter seal and 'maybe' that was the problem. I told them there was never any oil stains on the driveway which would indicate there was not a external leak of the magnitude that all the oil was gone. I will now have to check the oil every time I fill up with gas to see if it is still losing oil. There is always the possibility that the engine was never filled with oil when it was delivered to me new. If the engine continues to lose oil at the current level it would appear there is an internal leak or blow by somewhere within the engine which is unacceptable for a new vehicle.
