I traded a Buick Enclave (a pretty quiet vehicle) for a smaller vehicle. Settled on a 2017 Cadillac XT5 (My first Caddy). Being a Cadillac, I felt it should be solid and quiet. On test drive it was close to the Enclave - not quite as quiet, but we bought it anyway. Over the next two days we drove it over roads that we had often driven the Enclave and found that on Interstate cement a lot of road noise carried up through the underbody. On asphalt covered roads it was much quieter. I would think Cadillac could do as well as Buick in sound proofing but apparently not on the XT5.

I may try undercoating with sound dampening coating.

Update from May 11, 2021: An update to the previous post: I had the underbody undercoating, this did help reduce the road noise. I believe the main cause might be the Michelin Premier LTX tires. When I have to replace these I may try Michelin Defender tires, that is what I had on my Enclave.

The XT5 is generally comfortable and nimble to drive. Plenty of power with the V6.

Update from Aug 14, 2021: Update to this complaint: After a trip to Kansas City and another one to Denver I decided to trade the noisy XT5 off. On areas off interstate highway, the road noise hit 70 decibels. Loud enough that you had to speak loudly to be heard. Very disappointing for a Cadillac. If not for the noise, I would really like the car. It's quick and fun to drive.
