XT5 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

This 2019 XT5 Cadillac was purchased June 2022. I first encountered the problem of acceleration in November 2022 on the highway. It accelerated from 0-60 and would not slow down. When applying brake, it bucked, jerked and transmission grinded. I had to pull over put it park then turn the car off to reset. I told the dealership about the problem, but they said they could find no problem. They tried telling me it could have been stuck with floor mat, but I told them that was not likely. It happened 4 more times after this.

Recently, in August 2024, I had it serviced and specifically requested service on transmission, the dealer did the work, so my highway trip on vacation was not bad. But to put this in perspective, I purchased vehicle with 45,006 miles, it currently has 60,024 miles on it, which is approximately 15,018. On September 28th 2024, the accelerator shifted in the middle of heavy traffic, riding with my wife it headed straight for the rear end of the car in front of us. I had to practically stand on the brakes, pull into the turning lane at a red light, put it in park and turn it off. We were supposed to been running errands in another state not too far from us, but I had take it home and switch to our other car.

This made me very angry, because had my wife or a less experienced driver been in the driver seat, it could have been a deadly accident. I will just say, this is my second Cadillac, the first was an SRX, but it will probably be my last! By the way, when the XT5 Cruise Control is engaged, it does not decrease when applying brakes but increases. So honestly, the problem with acceleration seems to be related to CC due to a transmission issue. GM, this needs to be fixed before someone perishes!
