I bought the car in Nov. 2019. In Feb 2020, I took the car in and complained that occasionally upon takeoff the transmission wouldn't shift to 2nd gear until around 5500 rpm. Service dept. wasn't able to duplicate the problem and checked the codes and all seemed ok to them. On March 12, 2020 I took the car back because I kept experiencing the same problem. This time I took a service mechanic with me and I was able to duplicate the problem. He opened a case file to fix the problem.
After I got the car back, I continued to have the same frustrating problem. I tried to live with the problem until I had a friend in the car when the problem happened again. I was totally embarrassed and called to speak to a manager. The manager told me they were getting a new service manager and he would have the new service manager call me. I never got the call. I tried to call him but he never returned my call.
I took the car in for a third time in Oct 2020. My service advisor, who was as frustrated as I was, sent me on a test drive with a new, very knowledgeable service tech. I was able to duplicate the problem after a short while and he told me that was normal with these new transmissions. I stopped the car and told him I have been driving for over 50 years, bought many cars and recently bought a new car from Acura with the same type of transmission and have never had a transmission that's as awful as this one. He got a little testy and basically said there's nothing he can do.
When we returned to the dealership, my service advisor said she was considering buying the same model that I have. I offered her my car at a $20,000 discount and she said no, there's too many problems with my car. I have not been back and I continue to have the same problem. Reno Cadillac showed no desire to solve my problem, from the manager down.
Update from Aug 7, 2021: The Cadillac dealership in Reno has changed service managers and what a difference. They actually called me when they noticed I hadn’t been back for any service. When I explained my problems they set up an appointment to look at my situation again. I finally felt they were finally on my side and wanted to get my problem solved. I now have my car back and they told me to test drive it and bring it back if my problem is not solved. Very encouraging.
