Avalanche LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,000 miles

I bought this 2005 Avalanche about a year ago, had 79,000 miles on it. About a month ago the service engine light came on. I took it to a local mechanic and he said a fuel sensor located near the gas tank has gone bad. He told me he's replaced a "ton" of them on the 2004 and 2005 Avalanches. He said he didn't know why GM hadn't done a recall on them. The part alone is $170, which might explain it. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.
