After having the 8 lifter replaced, along with new brakes. I asked for the service dept to inspect the overall vehicle and especially the wheels , bearing, hubs and such. and since I had heard an unusual noise from the front wheels and dragging feeling. Chevy states that everything is good. They allowed me to drive off, knowing that I had a long trip in front of me ( i drive at any given day up to 300miles every other day.) Hey that what I bought the truck for. to drive IT !!! Well, while on my trip the 1st wheel falls off. I am in the middle of nowhere. and my dealer didn't respond to my phone call. therefore I had a near by mechanic fix the problem. Thats not all folks I bring it back to the dealer for other issues like the oil consumption test AGAIN. I can tell they are annoyed and blurt out to me in front of others waiting. Their excuses for the oil usage along with "well we do not know who does your brakes?" I reply," well you did." They fix the brake problem and the again send me on my way...Long story in the following days while away from my home town I am stuck once again. the other wheel falls off- both where the hub assembly. the broken parts appeared to even look defective. I didn't think much since there was some mileage on this vehicle- but I read that others also have similar problems
Only one thing,I don't understand why Chevy had not noticed the problem when I complained about it and asked for them to inspect that area of the vehicle before I went on my road-trip!!!

this is the second time the drivers side hub has gone bad in 48000 miles.
This truck is very well kept, and is NEVER driven off the highway. There is NO reason that the front hub should go bad twice in 15,000 miles.

This truck is still like new it's hard to believe that the wheel hub and bearings would go this quick. This has to be a defective part. I'm just want to know if other Chevy truck owners may of had the same problem. How many trucks had there front wheel fall off

I heard that there are always signs that your hub is going bad. I was traveling with my family to our vacation spot and all of a sudden we heard a noise. We pushed on because we were only an hour a way from our destination. Fortunately we got to about 3 miles from our destination before we decided we couldn't go on. Found out our wheel was hanging on by the brakes only. Pretty scary since our whole trip was highway driving.
