Avalanche LTZ

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

2008 chevy avalanche ltz, with 42000 original miles, has been great truck, however aware of issue of cracking of dashboards; mine now has this issue. Started with hairline crack above airbag on dash and now at 42,000 miles, 12/2/16 another much larger crack is alone side the instrument panel. GM needs to correct this issue as have noticed with other vechicles in same category the same issue. Crack above airbag could also be huge safety issue and as well room for lawsuit if involved in crash; plastic fragments from splitting dashboard in the event of crash could propel with the also now recalled takata airbag.

Avalanche LTZ 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Dashboard has cracked in two spots, not sure how if even happened cause my truck has never been in an accident. It just broke from sun I guess. The plastic is made very bad its super low grade. And judging form all these complaints I'm not the only one with this problem. I keep very good care of my car so it was not from no care. Chevy needs to step up and fix some of these concerns if they want to charge the prices they are.

Avalanche LS V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

I was cleaning my truck out when I noticed that my passenger side dash had a crack in it above the airbag. Not impressed at all. I take really good care of my truck, has not been in any accidents. Please explain to me why the dash cracked?

Avalanche 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Over a year ago I noticed a crack on the dash (top left of passenger airbag). I see this to be the same crack many are experiencing on this forum! Recently, I noticed another crack forming on the drivers side over the instrument cluster! I wasn't so angry about it until I read how many people are having this problem!

This is my second Avalanche, although I love this truck, I am not impressed with the quality of many of the parts used. I will be going by the dealer this week hoping to get an acceptable compromise to resolve this issue or I may have to look into a better built truck. I take good care of my vehicles but have found myself replacing quite a few parts on both my Avalanches, and I'm not talking about normal wear parts.

Avalanche LT 5.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

The dashboard on my babied, garage kept 2008 Avalanche cracked in 2 places. Yes, very disappointed as I know I will probably not be given relief by the dealership. My disappointment turned into anger when I searched this complaint and found out this is a frequent occurring problem with this vehicle make. GM should step up to the plate and issue a recall for SAFETY purposes as this could very possible interfere with air bag function.

I will be contacting the dealer soon to start my complaint process.

Avalanche Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

The part costs $298. But installation at a body shop will be another $500! GM had to know this was a crappy build and just ignored the problem.

GM should take responsibility to replace these dashes - No doubt they are at fault installing very poor quality dashboards for many trucks over many years !!!

Avalanche LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,000 miles

duck tape will not stick well on the dash. Hard to believe that GM does not stand behind what they produce. Wonder who will bail them out this time. Things have changed. This truck has had several problems but nothing that cost like this $800.

Avalanche LT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,515 miles

I am not the only person with this problem. I feel like Chevrolet should replace without any cost to owners. I keep the dash cleaned & conditioned and always use a reflector in the window to keep the sun from the dash.
