problem #2

Aug 042016

Avalanche Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,907 miles

Same problem, tests show no compression, cylinder 6 misfiring, cylinder 6 intake lifter collapsed, Mechanic told GM that this is the third major engine failure with same concern on different cylinders, and was told that they are aware and to replace cylinder 6 lifters and guides, along with needed parts. I told the dealer he should consider replacing engine if he can't identify the cause.

problem #1

Avalanche Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,847 miles

Same problem, Service stabilitrak, engine light on steady, no power, I can slowly accelerate but very little power this time, cylinder lifter #7 was collapsed, GM recommended changing all lifters, and VLOM, install AFM valve shield, and oil pump. GM sent a tech bulletin about this issue and said the dealer should have replaced the oil pump as well on Sept/2015. I was told that GM was well aware of this issue, but just said to repair it again?? No charge for this repair.
