Aveo 4-cyl

  • miles
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo that has given me numerous problems. A little over a year ago I noticed I could not shift my car out of park I have to use a screwdriver to shift my gear out of park. Soon after I noticed my brake lights stopped working. I bought a box of fuses but this only fixed the problem for less than a week. Every time I put a new fuse in the brake lights went back out in a day or two. One day while I was on the freeway my car just suddenly stopped without any warning. I took the car to the dealer it was still under the power train warranty. It was a electrical problem causing all of these problems and cost over $2,000 to fix. A year later the problems started again I can't move my gear without using a screw driver, my brake lights and headlights are out. If I slam the hood of my car one headlight will come on which shows that something is wrong with the wiring. The engine light and hold mode light flashes constantly. I feel this car is dangerous because there are no brake lights which can easily cause an accident. I was pulled over by the police because of no brake lights a $125 ticket. I am in a bind because I really need my car for work but I do not have $2,000 (no longer under warranty) to fix this car only to have the same problem happen again months from now. Also, I have noticed a strong gas smell from the car that has me concerned. I have read so many internet post from other people complaining about the same problems. This car seriously need to be recalled because it is endangering people lives.

Aveo

  • 90,000 miles
I purchased a 2005 Chevy Aveo and I have had nothing but problems ever since. After 1 year the car broke down. The idler stuck at full-throttle and burned my timing belt off. Not only the engine but the car was rendered useless after that. I had to replace the engine (my pops did really) and now the second engine has done the very same thing at only 18,000 miles. Twice I was lucky enough to be in a position where my daughter was not with me at the time and I could push my car off of the road myself and not get killed. I called GM and they say that they cannot guarantee that they will fix the problem for me. The first time I talked to them they wouldn't even listen to me. They told me that my VIN number did not match the recalls...though these cars had the very same problem. The car should have either been replaced or I should have gotten my money back. I have been rendered homeless and jobless twice now because of this car. I've lost everything. I can't keep paying on this car with their faulty engines. If I replace the engine it will do the same thing. It's not VIN specific...it's the engines period. I could have gotten killed twice!

Aveo

  • 30,000 miles
I traded in a 2004 P.T.cruiser to get a 2005 Chevy Aveo at the time it had 21000 miles when I got it. My warranty was good till 36000. I had lots of issues with a noise that still to this day has not been corrected even after three attempts under my car by the Chevy service dept. I then had a computer recall or something that had to be replaced I also had a gas cap that malfunctioned and a clock that had to be replaced. Those are the non life threatening issues. I had an incident inside of the original warranty where the car threw parts out of the engine. It was the serpentine belt and the bracket that was metal that it was mounted on broke out of the engine as I was driving it. I am currently at 55000 and I have the power train on it. In the last month I have had the car in my possession 1 week the rest it's been in the service dept. A month ago the plastic and yes that's plastic housing for the thermostat blew apart on the interstate causing us to have to dial 911 to get help because we were trapped. Two weeks ago it spit out the timing belt and the valves got bent and the valve cover was damaged. We don't know what particles ended up in the engine for now. I have contacted Chevrolet on all these issues and I asked them before my warranty went out and right after the first incident to give me back the money for the car. They called me today and said I didn't have a case because the warranty was out I reminded them I had been asking since before at the first incident with the serpentine and bracket and they said sorry the warranty is out. I reminded them I have pictures of those parts and can prove it but that still wasn't good enough! I spoke to hannah a district specialist today and that is who lied to herself and said these occurrences were after the warranty. I have proof can you please help before my family dies and then we have dependents who will own the very company the gov't is trying to bail out. I need you to intervene before I go to court over this.
