Aveo 4-cyl

I put my car in park and it will not come out of park. I found out it was torque locked and had to follow all the steps from my manual and at the end it says get fixed asap. I have read that there are the same things happening to alot of Aveos 2008 and why is this not on the recall.

Aveo 4-cyl

  • 81,899 miles
In March of last year I purchased a used Chevrolet Aveo from auto nation Chevrolet in sugar land, tx (hwy. 6). I have been comfortable in my car up until 2 1/2 weeks ago when I had to have my car repaired at classic Chevrolet in sugar land, tx on April 21,2014. My brake shift sensor had to be replaced, my brake switch, and my clock. The problems with my shift caused my brake lights not to work and I did not know they were not working until I had a conversation with someone at pep boys. No one blew their horn or anything to let me know my brake lights were out. I knew something was wrong when my gear would not come out of park and I had to engage the shift release button. Yesterday May 6, 2014 I arrived at work and I wanted to drop some items off at my classroom therefore I was going to park close to the door. I braked and went to or my car in park but was unable to do so. My button on my shift could not be engaged and without the button engaged the car would only go into neutral from drive. I was able to drive my car back to classic Chevrolet in sugar land, tx that had done my repairs two weeks prior. This time I was told by the service department that the shift was binding in the transmission. I now have a new shift but my concern now is what is next. I have had this car for only a year now. Yes it is used but my first car a 2005 Ford Focus was used and did not need repairs like this in only a year. I have to kid's and now I am considering letting this car go because I do not want to end up in an accident in this vehicle even after repairs have been done.
