bought the truck lady driven, and they're fairly low income family, so that being said, they oil sprayed the sh*t out of it and paid no attention to anything else, I changed the spark plugs on it and cleaned the throttle body, seems like theres a lot of sh*t that has gotten into it, also changed the air filter (which was black with grease) also the egr valve has been replaced. The spark plugs were supposed to be at 0.045 for gap and they were about 0.080.. looks like the lady had never really beaten on the truck.. all of the brake lines are likely gone, the rear and front brakes are toast, however. I tried putting a scanner on it but it wouldn't read the codes.. Just cant wait to get it fixed and running right again.

My blazer starting stalling at stops and the idle was ugly. I went in to the shop and they told me my egr valve was clogged with carbon build-up but I didn't have the money at the time to fix it so they were nice and cleaned out the valve for free but told me it was only a temp fix. Boy were they right not even 2 days later it stalled out and wouldn't start up again. I ended up going a few months without my truck because i was quoted over $400. Well I finally got fed up with waiting for funds so I looked the part up online, which I should have done to begin with, and found the part for roughly $170. I bought it and towed my truck to the shop where again they were nice and felt bad that I went months without my truck and put it in free. Now it purs perfectly. Although I'm afraid of a repeat so my interest is peaked with this egr screen. I'm going to look into that.

We have replaced the entire injector assembly, egr valve, added a screen to block carbon chunks from the egr, performed a complete tune-up, added new plug wires and plugs, replaced the fuel pump, replaced brake booster(told it could be a vacuum leak). The check-engine light is still on and the thing idles horribly. It also belches thick black smoke out of the exhaust whenever accelerating.

it was annoying but it did happen to a mail carrier and she sold her car to another mail carrier and then it's being sold to me after the whole fuel pressure regulator

"Service Soon" light is on, engine idles rough and threatens to stall at red light;
Loud, low groaning noise increasing in pitch with speed increase; Gurgling sound when I gun the engine in park or accelerate

So I had the same problem of my Blazer running rough and wanting to stall and the check engine light coming on right after I bought it in April of 2006. After routinely having to have the carbon cleaned out of the EGR valve, my dads friend/our mechanic told us something about a screen that stops the carbon from going somewhere or other. Anyhoo, it wasn't that expensive, and I haven't had any problems with it since!

okay so my blazer was purchased around December of 07 and every since has been
nothing but trouble. first i thought it was the spark plugs. then i was told to clean
out the egr valve. then i was told again that it was the spark plugs and that i needed
to replace the egr valve. so know that i have down all of that i was getting ready to
sell it and it has started to act up again and idol rough. if there is anything you might
know from experience please let me know so i can get rid of it.

I just purchased my 95 Blazer. Idles very rough! Does not stall at least not yet! Engine light stays on too even though had a tune up.Not bad for a second car and has some pick up! The rough idle is quite annoying though.Any help out there?

Fell in love with my 1995 Blazer on sight. Fell out of love with it very soon afterwards. Had bouts of very rough idling and having to drive "2 footed" if you know what I mean. Had so many things changed ranging from fuel filter to fuel lines. Wound up having to replace fuel filter, fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, starter, alternator, several electrical components and the list goes on. Once again, it is sitting.
Does not want to stay running, even when using one foot on the gas and one on the brake.I have put a ton of money into this thing and even though I do love the way it looks and the way it handles and drives(when I can keep it running) I think it's time to put the old girl down for the count. My second vehicle is a 1999 Dodge Durango whicj, believe it or not, is problem free. Approaching 100,000 miles on it and have had to do nothing to it other than routine maintenence. The Chevy Blazer has 151,000 miles on it and other than mechanical problems, is perfect. But the mechanical problems are just starting to add up to a lot more than it's worth. I haven't had to drive the Durango on an everyday basis and used my Blazer all last winter for traveling through the Maine winter we had last year. So I'll get to use the Durango and compare. The Blazer runs great when each problem is fixed, but then something new comes up soon afterwards. Developed electrical problems where I would turn on the headlights and the radio would cut off, the I'd turn on the interior lights and my dash lights would go off. Turn my radio on, headlights went off. Hit my brakes and the revers lights would come on also.
Add that to having to 2 foot drive half the time and I've had it. Tired of having to put it in the shop so often that me and the mechanics I go to are all on first name basis.

My truck in my opinion is bi-polar. It has good days and bad days. Here lately, it sounds like a sewing machine on steroids. When I give it gas it revs way high the changes gears. It sounds awful. Also, the oil pressure goes from 40 to 60 when I am driving. The check engine light flashes aswell. I had the egr valve changed last year along w/ plugs and wires. I know my O-2 sensor is bad but I don't think that is the problem. I have been told numerous things, most of them being very cost worthy. Some body please help. Oh by the way it is Pink!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's had this problem! I found the fix (for me at least). The same thing was happening to me on a monthly basis. One time I pulled a chunk of carbon out of my EGR valve the size of an almond! Just for kicks i tried that Lucas Oil stabilizer and Valvoline max life on my next oil change and I haven't had any trouble since (over 2 years) I've got 350,000 clicks on her now. I don't know whether it was the Stabilizer or the new oil but I'v done the same thing ever since with no issues.

My car just started to do the same thing, I know that the 95 Chevy Blazer had a chronic issue with EGR valves and O2 Sensors, I am going to change my EGR valve, first one in 168,000 miles, I have had this truck since 97, at 32,000... so I am trying to tell myself it is just a matter of maintenance and all should be well.... I sure love this truck, it has been SOOOO good to me for so long. In the morning, I can get in and drive it, but after about 8 miles, it starts to act up as described above, it is like my car has turned into Jeckyl / Hyde as soon as it warms up, it starts to act up, the check engine light comes on, and the idle goes from 500 to 1500 and back and forth like a ping pong ball til the truck finally stalls, a rich smell in the air.... I hope someone has a solution.... I will post mine if I find one!

idles rough. dies at stop lights. paid $200 to be told they don't know why. they checked the EGR valve, the computer controller and all they accomplished was cleaning some of the carbon out and telling me i will need to get the fuel injectors cleaned and if i have the same problem again bring it back. well it started again right away. help....

I took the Blazer in for rough idling. They reported carbon buildup and took care of that. They replaced the EGR valve. Paid for the job and took it home. Immediately after I took it back for rough idling like it will cut out at the stop light. Took it back to adjust idling. Problem evolved into this excessive vacuum causing the engine to breathe heavily lunging forward with the brakes getting hard. The shop has the car for 3 days now still trying to find this problem. What could be the problem be here?

For a person who grew up with Fords and only heard bad things about Chevrolet from everybody else but I wanted to experience the cars for myself to see if they were that bad. From having to push a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS from a intersection into a Ford dealership because it ran like Honda missing an intake. I can say that it is best just to stay with a Ford. They always work for me and I've never had a problem with it.
