My windshield makes a popping sound almost every day at any time I drive - early morning, mid morning, afternoon, etc. Sounds like glass is contracting or expanding due to temperature. I have never owned a vehicle - previously 4 Honda - that the windshield made that type sound. The popping sometimes sounds loud enough like a rock hitting the windshield - no other vehicles are around. This has been occurring for some time. I mentioned it to the service man when last I had my 'regular' service. I am concerned the glass may become a problem or actually break.
