The windshield wiper motor on my 1998 Chevy Blazer is showing the same defects as the recalled wiper motor on the 1996 and 1997 models. The intermittent sometimes does not work and causes the wipers to get stuck or not work at all. This is a very serious safty issue.

Consumer stated while traveling in rainy conditions, the windshield wipers stopped working. The dealer stated the wiper motor needed to be replaced. There was a recall but it did not involve the 1998 Blazer. The consumer had to pull to the side of the road.

NHTSA 03-V-159-000 on certain minivans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles with certain model-engine combinations, the windshield wiper motor may fail due to cracked solder joints on the controller circuit board. The windshield wipers could work intermittently or not at all. The consumer's had the same problem, however the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vehicle identification number.
