About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Consumer smelled fuel on the outside of the vehicle and on the inside of the garage. Fuel injection system was leaking fuel into the wiring harness and the main computer chip. This could result in an engine fire.
- Anchorage, AK, USA
The fuel injectors leaked onto the main wiring harness inside the engine. All of the wires melted. Three different mechanics confirmed that this should never have happened and could have caused a fire. I was refered to General Motors. Estimated repairs for $1600 include replacement of the wiring harness, fuel injectors, fuel regulator kit, fuel body kit and upper intake gasket. GM has agreed to pay 50% of the bill. Since the vehicle has only 42,000 miles, has been maintained properly with oil changes and tune ups, I feel that GM is responsible for the total amount.
- Ormond Beach, FL, USA
Fuel injection has been replaced twice and checked vehicle 3 times. Manufacturer claimed it was due to California gas. Gas has an ingredient that was eating away or melting seal of fuel injection.
