Blazer LS 6 C

My airbag light keeps going on and off intermittently when I am driving the car. It may stay on for 5 min or more, then it will do off and stay off for 5 min or more. It is off more than it is on, but this concerns me. I am not sure if this means my airbag does not work at all or if it only works when the light is off.
