Blazer 4.3L

Sometimes, the light for the 'service 4x4' comes on and I can't switch between 2 wheel and 4 wheel. Its a mystery to me. It'll be like this for a while, maybe a week. Then later, when I start the engine, the light stays off and I can operate the 4X4. My wife has an observation that when the engine is completely warmed up she turns off the ignition and starts it again and it's operational. Not sure whats going on here, maybe all you wonderful internet people can help me out.

There are many solutions to this problem. 1. the switch on the dash could be bad (changed it, not the problem). 2. the computer, located on the passenger floor side kick panel could be bad (changed it with and now have different symptoms). 3. the diaphragm under the car battery could be bad (checked it, It holds vacuum. It's not a problem). 4. the vacuum relay on the firewall (changed it, not the problem). 5. the vacuum line's them selves (checked the, not the problem). 6. the switch on the transfer case. I haven't changed this out yet, because I'm frustrated and I'm buying a new car. This has got to be the worst 4x4 system I've ever had.
