Blazer LS 4.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

We started smelling coolant burning which has a bit of a sweet smell to it like pancake syrup, but I couldn't see the leak when I popped the hood. Well weeks later I look under the car and there is coolant leaking out pretty bad (thinking it was a hose) I crawled under the car to see if I could locate the hose and there was no hose at all it appeared to be leaking from the engine itself. Well we took it to the shop and it was that intake manifold gasket (apparently it keeps the oil and coolant from mixing). They quoted us like $954 and it took like 3 days to fix it, horrible. thank goodness it was around tax season and we were able to afford it.

Blazer 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

Yes lots of miles but ran across the country so just lots of freeway miles. Caused by Dex-Cool which is junk and ate the intake manifold gasket, GM was no help and laughed at me with the miles on the car. This car has had lots of repairs on it to keep it going. Go GM buy American junk,

Blazer

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I took my Blazer in for an electrical problem (worn connector and wires to the battery - $60 repair) and while there, it was discovered that it had a coolant leak. $1051.35 later, I have a new coolant intake valve, gasket and high pressure hoses. The electrical problem will be added as well.

Blazer 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,000 miles

I will NEVER, EVER buy another Chevrolet vehicle. this is my second Blazer (God I should have known better after the first one's engine completely died at 100,000 miles). The last time I was in for "service" (and I use this term loosely as "service' is more akin to being blindfolded, beaten with a club and robbed) I was told I had an intake manifold leak which I should fix next time I am in. Sure enough 3K later, it's Not an intake manifold but a full on radiator leak that needs replacing. Seriously, these vehicles are utter CRAP and unbelievably expensive to maintain. I should have learned my lesson before but I was an idiot and now I am paying a heavy price.
