Tie rod - while driving on I95 in virgina yesterday I pulled into a rest stop. While slowing down I heard a very loud grinding sound. As I stopped the car I had no control over the stering. I exited the car, looked underneath the front end to find that the drivers side tie rod had come loose.once again as with my failed engine in this car I was lucky that this happened while I was slowing down. If it happened 30 seconds before when I was traveling at 70 miles an hour or 30 seconds after I left the rest area I would have been in a serious, possibly deadly car accident. The car was towed to the nearby Chevrolet dealership for repair. The mechanic that inspected and fixed the car and the service writer both told me that they have never seen a tie rod come loose. I would like to know how it happended to this car. Re: window one day after receiving this car back from the dealer when the engine was replaced I was sitting at a red light and the passanger side rear window closed by itself. I was not able to open it again that day however I was able to open and close it the next day and this has not happened again. However, what caused this" and what would have happened if a child was leaning out the window and the window closed on it's own and would not re-open"
