Conditions: Temp: Approximately 70 degrees F weather: Clear with the parking brake applied (firmly) I pressed the release button on parking brake handle and immediately heard a loud pop from the center console and felt a release of tension in the handle. After the noise, the parking brake handle could be moved freely up or down with no resistance to movement (the release button was kept depressed). The vehicle moved forward slightly after the pop noise was heard. I move the handle to the down (off) position and released the button. I then re-applied the parking brake and it operated normally. I called the dealer but since the problem was no longer present they could do nothing (I agree with them).
