I had just spent $1,000 to replace two fuel injectors. The check engine light came on as soon as I paid the bill and got in the car to leave.

The new code was p0449 - evap vent control solenoid. The cost for the diagnostic and repair was $625.90. I replaced it right away since the inspection was due.

The check engine light stayed off until May 7, 2016. Details in a separate post.

I looked on-line and this defective EVAP Canister issue seems to be a pretty common problem. My warranty expired when the EVAP canister went out and the Check Engine Light came on. My car had under 15,000 at the time.

Every mechanic I spoke with said this should not be defective. Even Dealer mechanics said, off the record, that GM should fix it free. I contacted GM and went around in circles with them but they would not fix it.
