After the first 100 miles of use I always check the wheel lug nuts for proper torque value as per the owners manual and did so on my new 2014 Camaro 2ss, purchased on 23 May 2014. I found all the wheel lug nuts way under torqued at approximately 80 lb ft of torque., the 2014 Camaro factory owners manual that came with the car stated 110lb ft of torque on each lug nut. Also noted that on each lug nut there appeared to be a special coating material on the mating surface of each nut. Looks & feels like a teflon coating. I always thought that this surface should be free of any lubrication so that when seated against the wheel surface it would be metal to metal with no lubrication required. Could this coating be affecting the wheel lug nut torquing done during the wheel installation at the GM assembly plant?
