Camaro LT Convertible 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,000 miles

This is the second time within one year that the rear window separated from the convertible top. The last time the entire top was replaced under warranty. I have yet to take it in this time as I was away for work but it damn well better be replaced for free again. The service agent acted shocked that this was happening, but a quick 2 minute Google search found that this is a well-known problem, there is even a TSB issued.

The adhesive used is crap. My last convertible had the window sewn into the top. This Camaro window is just slapped on with crappy glue. So basically GM is replacing a design and engineering defective part with another defective part, not getting to the root problem. Cost to replace is $1800 minimum. So once the warranty is over, count on spending 2 grand annually if you're lucky to replace it. I guess you could wing it and use your kid's kindergarten paste and slap it back on because it will be just as effective as the glue GM uses,. I am seriously considering getting this top replaced then trading it in, and believe me they better give me a sweet deal on a replacement vehicle.
