problem #2

Jan 052018

Captiva AWD Sport 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,100 miles

Key got stuck once. Stabilitrak light would come on, parking brake light and radio would shut off. Voltage issues. Still trying to get this fixed but I want it done right the first time. No one seems to know how to address it, but apparently according to other threads this vehicle has known issues and only some have been recalled. Mine has the same issue everyone is complaining about and has not been recalled. Constantly worried about getting stuck in this vehicle.Battery and alternator fine but low voltage.

problem #1

Captiva Lt Sport

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

The car has a drop in voltage. Changed the alternator-same problem occurred soon after. Tried another alternator and same problems occurred. Randomly the radio will shut off usually when the turn signal is used. Sound to turn signal will stop too. Clusters of lights will come on randomly on the left side of dash board. Wrench and parking trouble light will come on. Service traction control system message will appear. Worst problem is randomly, soon after running, the car will not start nor will it release the key. Sometimes jumping it helps and sometimes waiting 15 minutes to 24 hours helps. Have read the Chevrolet complaint blog page with many vehicles having the same issues and haven't gotten a solid answer to what is causing this issue. Some good leads but not enough to convince me to spend a large some of money to allow the dealer to go ahead and fix it yet.
