I take care of my car, It looks like new. Very Low miles for a 2012. Started to hear noises, like road noise. I called my mechanic we thought it was maybe wheel bearings. That same night I called I heard loud clicking once and awhile and then I heard grinding awful noise.
Pulled it off the road and sent it to my mechanic and he couldn't believe it with the low miles. it was the transfer case needs to be replaced. He doesn't do that said I need to get it done by a dealer.
SO I called the dealer I bought this Great Certified Used car from and there was nothing they could do other then give me a estimate. I said well if I need to have it towed why do it 24 Miles away when we have a dealer in town. I called them they said they can do it BUT never did one. Made me feel very comfortable sending it there NOT !
I called a friend who is a mechanic and without hesitation he gave me the name of a transmission repair shop. I had my car towed there and of course it's the holiday weekend.
I got a call today it will be over $3K to fix. for a new one I could reduce the cost to about $1700 if I went with a used one with the same miles. WHY???? if you can't tell me why this went then wouldn't I be paying for the same issue potentially ?
Great I am a single person with single income and certainly was not looking to have a huge issue with the car with low miles. I have contacted GM to see if they can help or pitch in. Beside the cost of the repair I have to rent a car now for going on 2 weeks... I hear all about how GREAT Chevrolet is and how many awards they get to be #1 …. WE will see.
