Went to the dentist, got my routine oil change, then went to the doctor, then visited a friend. When I left my friends house to get on the freeway my car smelled like oil burning- engine light came on, check stability light came on, low oil pressure light came on. I pulled into a gas station and turned off engine. My friend sent me pictures of her driveway where all my oil leaked out- after having the vehicle towed- the mechanic said the rear main seal had blown because of a pvc issue. I contacted the dealer but of course my VIN isn't part of the recall.

Smelled something burning when dropped kids off at school, about 2 miles down the road while driving, it started hesitating at the stop light. 1 mile later and still driving down the highway at 40 mph, it started making a loud rattle noise and all the dash lights came on. Luckily, it was 2 blocks from home so pulled in the drive and noticed oil all over. Checked the oil dipstick and had a hissing sound with no oil reading on the stick. Everytime you start it now, it leaks oil. Took it to my mechanic and he said its a clogged pvc which blew the rear seal. My car has 89,950 miles on

Our vehicle has all of the symptoms and problems associated with the GM special coverage adjustment 14882, document id 4098165. However, GM claims that our vehicle is not covered based on the VIN. This issue can cause the vehicle to lose all oil and shut down, destroy the engine, and in the worst case catch fire. In my wife's case she was able to make it off the highway and park before the vehicle fully shut down. There is apparently a class action lawsuit going on about this item.

Engine sputtered, lurched forward, then almost died repeatedly at a stoplight. Drove car home as no warning lights came on and made an appointment with my mechanic. Mechanic advised to drive car to the shop. When I started the car to drive there, several engine lights came on stating 'reduced engine power' and a stabilitrack warning. The car then died and would not start again. Towed the car to the shop and was told my timing chain snapped and destroyed the engine. 80K miles on the car and my warranty is expired, so now I'm putting several thousand dollars into a new engine. Have heard of several other issues similar at the same mileage.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Captiva. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle came to a screeching hault and failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (pinegar Chevrolet Buick GMC of branson, 163 adair road, branson, Missouri 65616) where it was awaiting diagnostic testing. The contact also stated that the "check traction control immediately/see dealer" message appeared on the display screen. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

This past year 2017; oil changes; low a quart or two; one time, told it was out of oil. No leaks found. Drove 360 miles in the winter and back. Car stalled, blue smoke, said check stability traction and shut car off! (out of oil just 3 days after filled with oil) I change oil every 2K miles. I was informed a lot of vehicles with this same engine did this exact problem. This is a danger issue. My car stranded me -12 degree weather!!!! I was informed that the rear seal blew because I drove a long trip in the cold and it froze and broke. These are two problems I have contacted GM with and they called me a liar and told me I abused my car and all warranties, including power train ran out the same day I was stranded! I am [xxx] and never abuse my vehicles (my dad taught me proper). I now have no car. It is parked in my yard. I owe $5000. It only has 89,000 miles. The cost to fix is $3,350. I feel this was/is a safety issue! the engine/sensors would be ruined if I drove it anymore. The car just shuts down. I was also stranded 90 miles away from home because it quit. Our local dealership (purchased from) said too bad. GM said too bad. When I was driving in traffic, the car stuttered, and shut off after telling me to shut it off. At the stop light, I hurried to start it, it was rush hour, in heavy traffic, on a city street, at St. Cloud, mn. I was so scared. I nursed it to a tire place, (thank goodness they closed at 6 P.M., as it was 5:30 P.M.) they do all car stuff. I don't know what to do. I love my Captiva. I don't' dare drive it. It will quit and I cannot put 5 quarts of oil in every 50 miles! please I know from repair places that this engine is a problem. This same engine in a lot of equinox's, same problem. The car quits, the oil is out because the rear seal broke in the cold Minnesota weather on our long trip. Thank goodness it didn't strand us at rochester parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U

On 11/9/2015 my SUV engine cut off and I lost all power to operate it. The key would not come out of the ignition. I was attempting to come to a stop on two occasions on the same day and could not continue normal vehicle operations. I am taking the vehicle back to the dealer 11/10/2015.
