problem #3

Cavalier 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 147,000 miles

I sold the car at this point. It was only worth ~$500.00 and the cracked head gasket would cost at least $800.00

problem #2

Apr 182004

Cavalier 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I had owned the car for 6 years. Overall, it had been a good car. When I sold it with 150,000 miles, I truly had gotten a good deal over the course of owning the vehicle. There were quality issues though.

Chevy Cavalier's have a history of problems. I think my car pretty much sums up the amount of problems you would find in 5 cars combined. Constantly overheating, the problem began 2-3 years ago and I finally had the thermostat replaced after hours and hours of my mechanic thinking there was nothing wrong. The overheating problems were over... for a while. Recently the problem has resurfaced and left me to assume that it would better to set this piece of junk on fire then to replace the problem area's which would be the head gasket the water pump and so on. I have been not leaking coolant but burning it up, so I have been putting in liter's and liter's of antifreeze which is not making my car cool down. To sum things up DO NOT BUY A CAVAILER, there are a nice little looking car and nice to drive when things go well... but i assure you you will regret it!
