I have a 1998 chevy cavalier.I have replaced the fuel filter & spark plugs.The car starts o.k. but when driving the car acts like it isn't getting fuel.It will just shut off at a stop sign.When your driving it seems as if it isn't getting fuel.If you give it a lot of gas it will run then it starts spitting i get off the gas & coast then i give it more gas again to get up to speed & it does it again.It is very dangerous you never know when it will shut off.You either drive slow or real fast to be able to get down the road.This car has been well maintained no leaks under the car.So all the seals & transmission are in good condition no leaks at all.I have no gas smell so i am not sure why it is doing what it is doing.I have done what was recommended from fuel pump pressure,spark plugs,replaced fuel filter.Doesn't make any sense.Thank you all for any information that might help.I am wondering is it the coil pack?Confusing problem.

My first problems began with loss of power and the car "bogging" down.. then it would die. Normally have to wait 20 mins at least before it will restart. Finally I noticed that this only happens in hot weather in stop and go traffic. On the highway, never a problem. Now I've noticed that any time I idle for very long at all my temp gauge goes almost in the red and eventually it will die. Once again you must wait for cool down to get it to restart. I have taken it to several dealerships for repair and they all say they can't duplicate the problem and find nothing wrong. Well something IS wrong and it stinks stalling out in a fast food drive thru or at a redlight for unknown amounts of time. Besides being an embarrassment and inconvenience, it is a serious danger depending on where you are stalled out! Please help! Any suggestions appreciated.
