After owning my Cavalier for about a year, I found myself on the side of the highway with a stalled car. Thinking, "good thing I bought a warranty on this", I thought it was an engine problem. Turns out it was just that it ran out of gas, a good samaritan sold me a gallon of gas for $1.00(good deal), and after pressurizing the fuel system a couple of times, it started right up. Ever since, the fuel gauge reads high, so I have had to use the Trip Odometer to gauge how far I can go between gas stations, and refill at least every 300 miles. Have never been stranded since. I will post a fix if I find one.

2001 cavalier gauge not working says full when empty and I run out of gas. I tried to keep track of mileage then gauge works for a time but I never go past 200 miles before I fuel up but forgot again in 2007 and again in 2009 and that time I had to get towed checked into nhtsa.gov and seen other complaints to the fuel gauge sensor not working there is a recall for the canadian 2001 cavalier had my vehicle diagnosed by a chevy dealer and was told it is the fuel sensor repairs to cost $368.00. I have 73000.miles on the vehicle and plan on just keeping track of the mileage and will not forget don't want to get towed again.
