i love my 02 cavalier, I've had it for 8 years. i hope to drive it another 8 years. i hope to find a solution to this surge problem.

The surging, revving and lurching forward of the 2002 cavalier was treacherous. I did not even need to use the gas pedal at times. The problem ended up being caused by a bad air conditioner condenser-- twice! Yes, not once but twice. The second time the car was out of warranty, of course. GMAC really needs to work of their quality.. I will not buy another GM. The in-dash computer also went bad within a month of purchasing this car new. The struts went bad and the "Mr. Goodwrench"s could not find any of these problems for months on end. Plus, the fan dial died twice also. Honda looks better all the time.

It seems that the engine speed wants to Jump up and then returns again and repeats this pattern between the speeds of about 15 MPH and 45 MPH.

MY CAR SUCKS! I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET AFTER THIS! My car has become a problem ever since i bought it. I have had it for about 6 months now and it is already going to hell. My biggest problem with my car is that when the air conditioner is turned on, and the car is in gear but at a stop, the RPMs of my car will jump from 500 RPMs to 1000 RPMs. This is starting to bother me because I cant run my air conditioner, and when I am at a stop, the car keeps wanting to pull off. TO ANYONE WHO IS EVEN CONSIDERING BUYING A CHEVROLET CAVALIER, DO NOT! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY!
