2006 cobalt. Non turbo. Purchased car to drive to work, 75 miles per day. Figured it would last at least 160,000 miles if I took care of it.
Front tires worn unevenly due to poor workmanship at the factory (they didn't bother to align the car properly). Both front tires worn on the outside to the wear bars in 16,000 miles. Chev dealership said Aw, too bad. They aligned the front end ($65) and the 50% tread rear tires that are now on the front are worn out at the 20,000 mile mark. I wonder if there isn't something seriously wrong with the suspension on this little car.
So I replaced the tires with top of the line 80,000 mile warranty tires and the cars handling problems at highway speeds were amplified. The car drives like it has a low tire, soft and squishy and the rear end sways side to side. The tires are up to pressure. I suspect that it (cobalt) has a design problem in the suspension and was depending on the stock tires to bail it out.
The wind drives this car nuts, I have had Volkswagen beetles that handled the wind better.
The anti lock brakes don't work well (or at all) at highway speeds when quick maneuvering is necessary resulting in 4 wheel drift situation the brakes couldn't be depended upon to help you get the car under control.
To be honest, this little "sports car" will get your teenager killed. I am going to trade it in before it kills me.

When driving down the road it is all over the road but when slowing down the whole car shakes, my steering wheel shakes and feels like is about to fall off.
