The arms that control the sunroof, are made of cheap plastic and break very easily. Evidently when the plastic sees enough sun or heat for about a year it starts becoming brittle. One day the sunroof was working perfectly and the next day I tried to close it and it would not as one arm was crumbling and broke. I have had numerous problems with this car, I would not suggest buying one to anybody!

Cobalt SS Supercharged 2.0L

Plastic parts that guide the Moonroof broke preventing it from closing. We have only used it maybe 5 times in 4 years. Looking at the plastic there are cracks everywhere.

My sunroof has been a pain from the very beginning!

First, in hot weather it would only crack open rather than slide all the way back. By the time I could drive to the dealership to show them the problem it had cooled off and opened.

Then, the trim around the button fell off and would not stay when put back. Apparently, Gorilla Glue is an official GM part because that is what they finally made it stay with (more on how I know this later . . .).

Then, one day when I go to close it I hear a "POP". When I get out of the car, one corner or the sunroof is sticking up and the other three are down. The module broke and I could not close it . . . and it was about to rain. I was still under factory warranty then thank goodness!

Then, on a freezing cold day with freezing cold rain, I need to run an errand on my lunch break. As I turn out of my parking space, freezing cold water pours into my lap, coming from the headliner around the sunroof open/close button. Have no idea how it managed to get there, nor has it happened again.

As a result of that last incident, my significant other decided to see if he could figure out how the water got there . . . so he had the bright idea to pull down the trim from around the button that the dealer had so kindly glued in place. Now I have the button dangling from the roof since he also jammed it into the roof and I now cannot get it to sit in place where it belongs, and a piece of trim with a big hunk of Gorilla Glue rolling around in my car.

I had to use duct tape to close the opening in the sun roof so as to keep out the rain until the car is repaired. This is a major deal as not taping the sun roof would have ruined the overhead lining as well as the interior of the car.

I only used the sunroof maybe a dozen times in over a year of having the vehicle.
