2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Consumer writes in regards to fuel pump recall notice. The consumer stated he had trouble starting the vehicle. He took the vehicle to the dealer, where they informed him, the fuel pump had no pressure. The consumer then took the vehicle to a repair shop, where they discovered a problem with the gas tank, which was leaking. The leak was where the fuel pump was connected to the gas tank. The consumer notified Chevrolet and they denied there was a problem with the gas tank. A month later, the consumer received a recall, regarding a problem with the fuel pump.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the fuel tank had separated at the seam and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at a cost of $ 1,182.15.. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 7/30/12

The interior of the vehicle had a strong fuel odor. The Chevrolet dealership diagnosed a leaking fuel module and had to replace the gas tank, fuel module, and fuel pipe. While this defect is known to occur on some 2007 Cobalts, GM states that my VIN number is not part of the current known defect. The leaking fuel module recall should be expanded to include all 2007 Cobalts.
