This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
2007 chevy cobalt when i say problem is awful i mean it. every time it comes on i wonder if i am safe. am i getting the features i purchased? i brought back to dealership numerous times while under warranty they fixed twice and other times it wouldn't come on so they would oddly look at me like i was nuts. There are so many reports about accidents and the airbag not working when that light is on its ridiculous. the problem is it comes on and off so much that by the time you get in for appointment its not on and there is no code they obviously keep doing the same thing with no fix. still desperate.

I've had the airbag light on before. This is something the dealer HAS to fix because it's a safety issue. I've gotten it done before, actually.
Well the light came back on AGAIN sometime later. I'm reluctant to take it to the dealer again to have it fixed and pay for it all over again. They replaced a part last time and it cost a few hundred bucks.
No thanks. It's also annoying because I keep getting a message on the milage display that says SERVICE AIR BAG. I'll clear the message and it'll come back after a few seconds.
I'm convinced the whole steering column is faulty.

Light comes on and goes off randomly. The alarm chime goes off when the light comes on. The dealership says they can't fix it unless the light is on and of course when I take it to the dealership it isn't on.

i was on vacation and all of a sudden my airbag light came on by the RPMs and your mileage and i was quite nervous as if i was to get into an accident i would have no air bags so i called the dealer ship and they told me that they can explode while i am driving but not likely so i took it to the dearlership and they had to order a air bag sensor or something but would take like a week to get and i was in NFLD and i live in NS so i had to drive back to NS with no airbags i was not happy. when i got back i took it to the dealership here and they fixed it but it took 2 days

We bought the car this year used 2014 and the light comes off and on at random. We were told it was probably an air bag sensor and they are $600 just for the part. They also said that if you crashed either all the air bags will deploy or none of them We just had the ignition recall fixed that's when we talked to them about it. It seems this air bag light thing is a issue and could be life threatening. I have read others had it fixed just for it to happen again that's a lot of money to keep forking out if the issue isn't fixed long term.
