When braking, the tires bounce causing a serious vibration which makes steering difficult when braking hard. There is no visible damage or lose suspension parts but I'm guessing it's either bad struts or control arms? I'm replacing the parts today as a guess and hope it fixes the issue. This is my daughters car and she's afraid to drive the vehicle.

The driver side headlight stays dim. Check engine light keeps coming on with something different. Had two fuel pumps installed. The car last night had power but would not turn over or attempt to start. When driving at highway speeds the steering is loose, at low speeds power steering sometimes works. Replaced all of the following components since purchase: Both front lower control arms due to bushing failures; both front shock and strut assemblies due to shock failures/leaks; both sway bar links due to failed components; both front sway bar bushings due to dry-rot; both front rotors due to failed/warped components caused by defective brake calipers; harmonic balancer due to defective/weak component; both rear shocks due to failures/leaks. My Cobalt has had issues with the lower control arms on multiple occasions since my purchase in 2012. I finally found a mechanic who told me it was the control arms and had them replaced, and within the year was told to have them replaced again. Now I have been told my suspension is gone. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle shook intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was determined that the front bushings, electronic stability control, steering column, and the front driver and passenger side lower control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Brought 2007 Cobalt on 7/09/14. Reported the problem of the vehicle shutting- off on me and no inspection sticker was on the car 7/10/14. They wrote a work order out. Brought the vehicle to archer auto to get work performed and for a inspection sticker. Archer auto kept my 2007 Cobalt for 3 months. Until I called BBB business and filed a complaint. Archer auto said they fix my vehicle but didn't. archer auto put a illegal inspection sticker on it to pass the emission test. Archer auto returned my vehicle. Then the power steering went out. Brought it to Firestone to get fix. Then later found out there was a recall on the power steering. The 2007 Cobalt was shutting-off on me and losing all power..then I took it back because their was another recall on the vehicle. Then on 9/13/14 the engine shut-off on me. Losing all power, locking the brakes and power steering also. I ran into the back of a vehicle and totaled put the 2007 Cobalt.

My 2007 Chevy Cobalt is making knocking when I let off the gas, go over bumps, or just set in the car. I have taken my car to a mech and they told me its my sway bar links and my strut/shock is leaking. How in the world can a sway bar link fail under normal driving conditions and not that very many miles on the car. It looks as thou I am not the only Chevy owner with this problem. GM needs to fix this serious issue! I know I cannot afford to fix it.

Car has a hard yank after coming to a stop and starting off. Knocking noise coming from rear of car since day one of purchase. Vibration in accelerator and gear shifter. Lights on interior of car dashboard goes on and off. Problem still happening today and the tsm was replaced as well, as they always say they cannot duplicate the problem. Check engine light has never came on at anytime the problem happened. It happens after car is driven and heated up. Only happened when long trip over 50 miles, now since ignition has been changed on call back. Problems has worsened lights on and off, transmission hard shift when driving short trips as well as a constant vibration. Knocking coming from gas tank side of car was mainly during cooler weather now happened when day was above 90 degrees. Electrical problem with vehicle I think and has caused many problems and even deaths. Do not think it was keys ignition. I seriously think is in the entire electrical system. Problem should of been fixed when 1st reported, but they only reset the trans computer.

My vehicle was making a loud noise I took it to the mechanic he said it was the tire rod end and bearing and it was the 3rd Cobalt with the exact same issue in a week that hed fixed he also said he couldn't see any reason for it in either car that those things usually don't just wear out. The engine turned off all by itself while I was driving around a corner, causing the car to go off the road. I was going about 35 mph, and applied the brakes as fast as I could, but the car went up and over the curb, across the sidewalk, and both front tires went down off the steep edge of the sidewalk's far side into the mud. The part of the car body immediately behind the front tires was almost touching (way less than 1 inch above) the edge of the top / edge of the sidewalk. I couldn't reverse back up and over the sidewalk edge. A tow truck was called, and pulled the car straight back and up/over the edge of the sidewalk and onto the road. Some sort of dust cover thing from up inside the passenger-side wheel well had been torn loose during the crash off the sidewalk edge and was still laying in the mud. After I restarted the car and drove home, the steering / suspension (I cannot tell which) made a creaking and grinding sort of noise when turning, and I could tell from the extensive bouncing at even little bumps in the road that both front struts had been damaged.

I am writing because I did get the recall on my vehicle of the power steering, the motor kit was fixed on 8/12/10.I took my car to midas on 10/24/2009 for a noise bumping noise coming from my vehicle and fuel/oil leaking. They said it was my struts, and they had to be replaced. I paid $500.31 for that repair all receipts and invoices on hand. On 4/25/2011 I took my car to tire discounters only to find that I needed 2 lower control arm bushings(7) labor for suspension service. My total cost was $339.12. I just pulled up recalls on my vehicle and I noticed that people where saying there struts had to be replaced to and the had problems with their power steering suspension. From what I have seen a faulty power steering is a component of a larger the larger suspension and if left unfixed it could lead to other major problems. If this is true why are we not getting reimbursed for these very expensive repairs" I saw where they may have recalled the whole suspension, so does that mean that I can get these repairs reimbursed"

Going out of driveway the front struts sound like they bottom out. Took to a certified mach. And struts were leaks oil and gas. Replaced them cost $559. I am having more problems with the back shocks I think when you go over a rough place in the road it sounds like the bottom is falling out. Can not afford to go back to mach. Now. No warrant left but can not get a hold of any one to talk to about this problem the place where I bought my car will not honor there previous customers because they went under a new owner. I have noticed some small clicking noises from the rearend of my car, and now that I'm living in Canada, I'm required to have my vehicle safety tested, so I took my vehicle in for this safety inspection and it failed due to a cracked rear coil spring. I was quite surprised by this and after talking with the shop owner it is apparent that this is a very common problem with Chevrolet Cobalts. This makes the car unsafe to drive on the roads in Canada let alone anywhere else, and after hearing this report and reading forums on the internet about this issue, I wanted to bring this to your attention as this is a problem that Chevrolet needs to fix. Please look into this matter and make Chevrolet make this a recall since is not that big of a job, but is a definite safety issue.

I took my vehicle to get it checked due to a popping noise while turning, I was told the control arm brushing (bushing) was broken. The part was replaced. Then 4 months later the popping noise returned. When taken to the dealership, it was again the control arm brushing (bushing). Again, it was replaced. In about 8 weeks, the popping noise returned again. I knew what it was by then and I left it go for awhile. It was replaced in December of 2012. Again it is broken as I file this report and has been for a couple weeks.

I purchased the car brand new in 2007. I noticed at about 20,000 miles the front suspension started to make lots of clunking noises and rattling whenever I went over bumps in the road. I took the car into the Chevy dealer and they said nothing was wrong with the car. The car now has 42,000 miles on it and the noise is still there. There is also a really awful noise when I apply the brakes and release them the car jerks like the brakes are gonna fall off the car. I recently took the car to a mechanic and he said the bushings need to be replaced and possibly the struts and control arm. The mechanic said the car should not be having those problems with the cars current mileage. He recommended I take it to the dealer ship but my warranty has since expired and the dealer ship will not fix the car.
