I was driving home in a horrible rainstorm. The car just stalled. Someone had to push us off a major road. The next morning it would not start at all. It would turn over but that's it. I had it towed to a dealer the following Monday. I was told that it was not covered under warranty because there was water in the cylinders and intake and I was driving in "unsafe" road conditions.
I didn't realize that GM vehicles were supposed to be parked in rainy weather. The service man at the dealership said that the air intake on Cobalts is very low and can easily take in water. In his words "A stupid place for it". This car was purchased in June 2008. It's been in the dealership 2 times prior to this for faulty parts. IT'S ONLY AUG OF 2009. They want $4000.00 for a new motor. I DON'T THINK SO. This is why the Big 3, particularly GM, are having the problems they have. HORRIBLE customer service and garbage quality. I will be fighting this all the way to my Senator if necessary. Will keep all posted.
