computer engine fuel injector misfire
BOUGHT 2010 CHEVY COBALT AUG 2014 50,000K MILES TO REPLACE LINCOLN MARK 8 IN FENDER BENDER. CAR RAN FINE UNTIL COMPUTER MISFIRE/INJECTOR PROBLEM CAUSED RADICAL STUTTER. TOOK TO MECHANIC OF 10 YRS PAUL'S AUTOMOTIVE, LAND O'LAKES, FL APR 15 WHO REPLACED PLUGS, COIL. CAR RESUMED NORMAL PERFORMANCE, BUT MISFIRE PROBLEM RECURRED. BACK IN SHOP AUG 2015. USED COMPUTER INSTALLED. PERFORMANCE OK FOR 4 MOS. STARTING IN JAN 2016 STUTTER PROBLEM RESUMED, MECHANIC RESET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 5 TIMES THEREAFTER SO THAT CAR COULD RUN WITHOUT STUTTER. MECHANIC SAID ONLY OPTION WAS TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I'VE HAD THAT DONE ON MY PREVIOUS CAR AND THE COST WAS PROHIBITIVE. MECHANIC AND CAR COMPUTER ENGINEER ADVISED ME TO GET ANOTHER CAR THRU CAR'S OWNER MY BANK AS BEST OPTION. IN OTHER WORDS THIS CAR WAS A LEMON THAT FELL THRU THE CRACKS AFTER THE LEMON LAW EXPIRED. I DON'T HAVE AN OWNERSHIP HISTORY. I'M REALLY UPSET AT AGE 72 RETIRED ON SSA, I HAVE TO DEAL WITH AN UNFIXABLE PROBLEM IN A CAR SO RELATIVELY NEW. THE INTERNET IS REPLETE WITH MECHANICAL PROBLEMS ON THIS CHEVY MODEL, MANY WORSE THAN MINE. I'VE HAD 3 FACTORY RECALLS 1. IGNITION SWITCH TWICE REPAIRED, AIR BAG SENSOR DONE AT GORDON CHEVROLET IN TAMPA. I HAVEN'T FIXED THE DEAD LEFT SPEAKERS AND THE DRIVER WINDOW SWITCH WAS FIXED THEN FAILED AGAIN BUT I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED. I'M PAYING DOWN CREDIT CARDS TO QUALIFY FOR A MORTGAGE, DENTAL BILLS AND MEDICAL ISSUES. I ONLY HOPE MY BANK CAN GET ME ANY CAR THAT WILL LAST 5-10 YRS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.MY MECHANIC SAYS TOYOTA, BUT DOUBT BANK WILL ACCEPT MILEAGE LIMITS ON USED CARS.

The stuttering happened randomly, lost HP and almost sounded like it was about to stall. The engine light occasionally came on. I had the clutch looked at, the transmission fluid changed, air filter replaced... 500 dollars in repairs bills later I bought my own code reader, read the code looked it up online, bought the camshaft intake solenoid and pulled the camshaft position sensors out and cleaned them. Overall cost was around 50 dollars. It's hard to tell what caused it the problem, runs like a charm now.
