I was almost rear ended today and the driver behind me came up to my window and told me that I had no brake lights, not even the center light. I have also noticed that I have no cruise control. The bulbs are new. I called the dealership and asked them if they have seen this problem and they said they haven't seen it on the Colorado. I checked the internet and found several other owners who have experienced the same problem, they directed me to the NHTSA website where I found the other complaints. I told them that there is an internal investigation on the matter and they told me they would look at the truck for $95 but they would only fix the problem for free is there is a recall. The vehicle is a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado.
- Fredericksburg, VA, USA
Chevrolet colorad 2004. The cruise control picks up several miles going up a hill, going down hill it jumps. It will kick in real fast sometimes. The vehicle revved in park position approximately 75 mph. When it did it would slow down it started to miss very badly. It was like the whole truck was shaking. The dealer said it had something to do with the computer and with the crank. The cruise control was inoperative.
- Salem, WV, USA
While entering a parking space the foot was on the brake pedal. As the foot let up on the brake pedal, the engine revved and the truck lurched forward. The truck hit a building before the brake could be reapplied.
