Blower motor on A/C quit working on truck on speeds 1,2,3 still works on 4, checked on the internet and the problem is with the resistor module that controls the speed of the blower. Spoke to GM dealer, and he advised that the problem was with the module overheating and causing the plug to melt and cause the resistor pack to become inoperable. No warranty on part according to GM dealer, wants $76 to fix problem, I am not paying for part due to obvious manufacturer defect that is a possible safety hazard that can and will cause risk of fire, injury or death.

2004 Chevy Colorado ZQ8 HVAC blower harness and resistor. Part was replaced at approximately 15,000 miles under mfg warranty with identical parts. Again out of warranty with no new revised parts at 45,000 and now again at 77,000 miles. Harness and resistor failure had gotten so hot each time that it had melted the harness to the resistor. Possible fire hazard, with severely burnt wires. Looking it up on forums this is common on all GM model Colorado and canyon trucks, GM knows of the problem, but refuses to offer a revised part or real solution.

I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado. The problem I am having with my vehicle is the A/C switch will not work on setting 1 through 3. although 4 works all the time. I have had it fixed 3 times since I bought the truck by a Chevy dealer yet the problem keeps happening, and once again it has stopped working. I have read many automobile forums and it seems many people are having the same problem yet Chevy has yet to issue a recall.

On a 2004 Colorado pu, the HVAC blower control has failed twice since end of warranty requiring expensive out of pocket payments. One dealer even explained the problem was related to "overheating a resistor" or some such technical blather. In any case, when the failure occurs the HVAC fan only blows high or not at all. A total of over $500 was paid on two failures.

Consumer complained about a defroster problem. When the temperature reached 20 degrees or lower the defroster will not clear the windshield, making visibility very difficult. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, who stated that this was the way vehicle was designed, and there was nothing else they could do.
