This truck has been a train wreck almost from day one. I bought this truck new in 05, and have babied it ever since . Ten years later the truck only has 59000 miles on it and the body and interior are in excellent shape.l am trading it in on a new car for my wife . Nobody will offer more than six grand because of all the issues these trucks are known to have. Heads , brakes, fan resistors , lights , etc. Congratulations gm you pushed a lifelong gm customer to Toyota. Prediction - gm will not survive more than ten more years (unless the government gives them more taxpayer money)

2005 Chevy Colorado ABS Fault comes on and the brakes get jumpy then hard to push

I drive through a canyon quite a bit so I'm hard on my brakes. I noticed a slight problem with the brakes and so I took it to a mechanic to have it looked at. He quoted me with $350.00 for new brakes and rotors but called later and said in order to replace the rotors there was a lot more work required due to placement of the rotors and that pushed the cost up to almost $700.00. He then called and told me the ABS light was on and the cost to replace the right hub sensor would be $336.00 for the part plus labor. So I opted to drive with the sensor light on my dash but I don't know how much longer I can deal with the light being on.

My abs light came on, so after a while I went to a shop to have the fault code read and he said my right front abs sensor was bad. He said it cost $138.00 to fix & I said ok. He called me back and said my exicter ring was bad and it was part of the bearing assembly and the whole thing would have to be replaced and would cost a total of $622.00. I couldn't believe it. So the day I picked up my truck & I asked to talk to the mechanic and he showed me the old defected bearing assembly.

After replacing the front brakes my "ABS FAULT" message started to display on the digital dashboard, also the BRAKES light came on. The error messages will display after a few miles of driving. Until the messages display the brakes are very hard to use, it is as if the ABS is pushing against me even though I may only be going 5-10 MPH on a dry flat surface and lightly pushing the brake pedal. I have learned to not drive very fast or try to brake hard until the error messages display. As soon as the error messages display the brakes work fine, I assume the ABS is off line while the error messages are on, I'm afraid to try it to find out.
I'm adding this complaint to the long list of similar complaints to, at the very least, inform others. Hopefully it will help inspire a recall. I have given up on trying to fix the problem. I live with constant warning lights on my dash when I drive. I sure with someone would offer a fix that would most likely fix the problem, I wouldn't mind spending $400-500 to fix it but I don't want to spend that much money on something that might work.
