My 2005 Chevrolet Colorado will activate the ABS system during braking on warm dry pavement and the vehicle will not stop. During these events the ABS failure warning light was not illuminated. The brakes have failed at 4 mph and at 25 mph. Other times, the ABS failure warning light is illuminated and the brakes work fine. No consistency and will not repeat for mechanic.

Problem with my Chevy Colorado. There is a grinding sound every time I brake. It even does it when I go five miles an hour. It does it every time that I take a turn in the streets even if I do not use the brakes. This fault in the ABS system worries me a lot, because I think it's a serious safety issue.

I have had numerous braking problems sine the third year of ownership. ABS light and stopping problems to many to mention! was told by dealership after $500 that calipers were frozen from rust! also I have been getting ABS failures also. Please have GM make this dangerous situation right. Does someone need to die before action is taken?

ABS warning light will come on in dry weather and ABS will engage diminishing braking. This is a known problem with Chevrolet and GMC 2004 - 2006 Colorado and canyons. GMC will refuse to do anything about it. My personal case is that they told me that they closed my complaint until I spend $100. To have diagnostics run for the error codes. All one has to do is go to edmunds.com and look at the hundreds of complaints out there for this very problem, or any other vehicle forum for that matter. Even the error codes are shown. I finally relinquished and took vehicle to dealer to have codes read. Just like the forums state the error codes came back, C0035, left front sensor and C00220, left front in release too long. Sensor and new hub is estimated by dealer to be $762!!!!dealer also stated GM is aware of this problem and it is due to poor/flawed design. My vehicle, even though it is a 2005, is in showroom condition. I severely baby this truck, even to the point I paint the undercarriage 3 - 4 time a year. This is a true safety hazard and will cause an accident due to the ABS engaging unexpectedly in completely dry weather and the brake pedal begins to thump and braking is severely reduced.

Vehicle for no apparent reason will engage ABS where brakes will pulsate and a temporary reduction in brakes will occur. This will occur when there is no rain, streets are dry and sunny. Immediately after this occurrence the ABS fault light will come on and stay on until car is stopped, turned off, and restarted. Took vehicle in to GM dealership and they said brakes were fine. When ABS engages, for no apparent reason, one will feel brake pedal pulsating and a loss of braking which causes some immediate alarm for fear of running into somebody or possibly allowing car to go too far into an intersection when trying to stop. Many web sites, forums and blogs, such as edmonds are loaded with these complaints on 2004 - 2006 Colorado's, as this is not just a single occurrence in a couple of vehicles. Contacted Chevrolet but they always point me to dealership for them to read computer code for error at a cost of $100 and then will price out the cost for repair. This is a safety hazard that GM is very aware of and selects not to address.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while having the oil changed by an authorized dealer, he was informed that all of the brake fluid needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the failure was due to brake line corrosion. The failure recurred once. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

I have a Z71 crew cab 4X4 model. The ABS system engages at low speed on dry pavement with zero wheel slippage. This is usually followed by the ABS failure light illuminating. The system resets when the vehicle is turned off and the problem recurs the next day in an endless cycle. There are numerous complaints of exactly the same problem on several web forums. ABS brakes have been around a long time and other manufacturers do not have the recurring problems that have been experienced with this vehicle. The time is long past to make Chevy do a recall.

ABS fault warning and brake light came on. Dealer fixed left side wheel assembly and sensor for $600. Later same thing happened. Brake light and ABS fault warning stay on constantly. Brakes failed once momentarily without warning. This has happened once, but could happen again at anytime.

Own a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado and am having repeated events with the ABS warning light. The light came on recently and then disappeared; followed by returning again yesterday along with brake light warning. This is a safety issue for anyone owning and driving one of these. After investigating other complaints with this issue it looks like GM needs to step up and do a recall.

Front left ABS sensor on a 2005 cheverolet Colorado. The truck only has 88,000 miles on it and the ABS fault signal comes on everytime I drive causing my brakes to become stiff which stops them from working causing me to almost hit someone everytime I go to a red light or stop sign.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving various speeds, the contact noticed that the ABS and traction controls would illuminate without applying pressure to the brakes. The air conditioner switch would shut on and off while driving over a pot hole. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and advised the contact that there were no recalls. The contact did not inform the manufacturer nor was the vehicle repaired. A local mechanic inspected the vehicle and advised the contact that the electrical system needed to be repaired; however, it was non repairable. The current mileage was approximately 96,000 and the failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact started the vehicle and the ABS and brake warning indicators were illuminated. The contact proceeded to drive approximately 15 mph when the brake pedal was applied with a delayed response. The brake pedal also extended to the floorboard. After engaging the brakes numerous times, the vehicle came to a stop yet the warning lights remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 140,000.
