Colorado Sport V5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 143,856 miles

Our 2005 Chevy Colorado started to die on us while driving. It would read REDUCED POWER and shut off completely no mater what speed we were going. You can wait 5 to 10 minutes and it would start up again only to die within a matter of minutes. We bought new batteries, no change. Read a lot of forums with the same problem. Most said we needed to replace or repair the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). I found a place in New York where you can remove PCM, extremely easy, and mail it to them and they repair it and send it back with a 5 year warranty. Car doesn't need to relearn PCM as it is the original and should be able to plug it in and go. I haven't received it back yet but will be sure to let you know the outcome. Wish me luck because we have been dealing with this a long time and are at our wits end.
