On July 1, 2018, my son was driving his 2006 Chevy Colorado on the freeway when it combusted in the front driver's side engine area. Thankfully, he was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed! the pickup burned entirely, very hot and very quick. See attached photos. I did contact GM, as I see there have been many claims of fire in these vehicles. However, GM was unwilling to put effort into trying to determine the cause of this fire that endangered my sons life!! I have received no answers, no compassion, no follow through. It is beyond disappointing for a company such as General Motors to not be doing a better job for their consumers.

Engine had a misfire and would stall sometimes when you made a tight turn at low speeds. Found out it had a bad value seat causing it to have the misfire. GM messed around and wouldn't fix it. Red other people had bad value seats too. Spent my own money to get it fixed.

Vehicle purchased new on 05/2006. Less than a month after purchase the vehicle would not start due to passlock system believing the car was in the process of becoming stolen. Owner would unlock vehicle with key fob and place key in ignition to start, but red lock icon on dashboard would blink and engine would not turn over. Original key and original key fob used at all times of occurrence. Owner would have to wait ten minutes and try again if vehicle would not start for passlock system to disengage. While under warranty, customer brought vehicle into GM dealer multiple times and the problem could not be verified. This left customer stranded in multiple locations at times and in situations that could have left owner in a dangerous situation based on area. At one point, customer could not start vehicle after a half hour, he than called GM and had the vehicle towed under warranty, the GM dealership stated problem was fixed or corrected. Now, no longer under warranty vehicle has same issue occurring intermittently. Cost to replace passlock sensor is too costly for owner to afford. Other vehicle maintenance is properly done according to owner's manual by local mechanic. Owner has uploaded video of issue experiencing; please visit youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=mfdjho_hiy4&feature=youtu.be.

2006 Chevrolet Colorado purchased new on 11/30/05. On May 27,2013 service engine soon(ses) came on and stayed on. Took truck to Chevrolet dealership and diagnostic code revealed an engine misfire. They turned light off, test drove, light did not come back on and sent me on my way. June 17 2013 ses light came back on. Took back to dealership, they performed a "leak down test" that showed multiple misfires in engine, a $4000 repair. Contacted GM and was told they had sent a letter to Colorado owners dated 8/2007 warning them this problem might occur and GM would extend the warranty to 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first to cover the problem. However, the letter also said not to take the truck for the fix if owner was not having the misfire problem. I never got such a letter-don't know why. I could not fix a problem I did not know I had! by the time my misfire problem occurred it was about 6 mths.out of the extended 7 year warranty but well under the 100,000 miles. Told all this to GM but they said "tuff". in my mind, by extending the warranty and even developing a special tool to help dealerships reduce labor costs, GM is acknowledging the defect in the factory built cylinder head. GM says the only way to fix the misfire is to replace the cylinder head and it's integral parts, again a $4000 repair. Even a cursory search on the internet shows thousands of Colorado owners with the same problem. This has to be a factory defect.

After about 2 years after we had the truck serviced for valve system issue which we were notified about via mail. We began having these starting issues that many of you are also describing. We took it back to dealer as it was still under warranty. We were told they needed to do a complete diagnostic on it which we could not afford. We purchased the truck in 2007 with 25000 miles and full warrantee. But diagnostics isn't part of that. So we have only recently began investigating tis issue more in depth, as we were told it was probably an intake issue or and exhaust issue. Only now are we seeing that it may be due to this passlock security issue that many of you are also mentioning. Over the years we also have experienced the same identical symptoms with cranking yet no actual start. Wait approximately ten minutes and she fires. It happened randomly at first. Then became more frequent. After fueling up etc. But not immediately after fueling. Now it has become almost a weekly occurrence. And the duration for wait time is lengthening to 20min-1/2 hr. All this time I allowed myself to believe it was something with the fuel system.... if this is a common problem....others need to be made aware as well. Is this a defect that was overlooked or blatantly ignored and not shared with the consumers? it does pose to be very unsafe in multiple circumstances. If this is an known issue, then why are we having to learn about it from one owner to another. Because no mechanics (dealership or other wise) has ever mentioned this as a potential issue.... always the same story. Must be a different issue... etc. But to realize it is a security feature gone whacky..... I don't know how any of you feel.... that doesn't make me feel safe. Thank you all for all your help and information.... thank you ever so much.

After my vehicle gained 67xxx it began to have issues with the anti theft system. When I turn my vehicle off, and turn it back on the anti theft light blinks. This has stalled my vehicle. When I attempt to turn it on the engine will crank and the lights flicker on and off. After doing some research I have found that numerous people have also encountered this issue. The only fix know at the moment is to wait 10 minutes and then the engine will start. This can become a nuisance and a danger. I had recently encountered a nail in my tire. I had to pull over on the highway to check what was happening. When I shut my engine off I was stuck on the highway due to my anti theft light blinking and my engine not starting due to this anti theft issue. I have addressed this with GM and also the local dealer with no success for assistance. It was suggested that I do a diagnostics test, but that would run me upward of 400+ to figure out what is going on. I find this to be a manufacture issue. Numerous people have addressed this issue online.
