About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.

Paint on leading hood edge bubbling on top of and beneath the hood. GM certified auto technicians confirmed this is a result of moisture during the painting process and not due to damage inflicted while driving.

The doors on the driver and passenger side come to a sharp point on the bottom. The wind case the door to come back on my leg and badly bruising my leg. I contacted GM to pay my doctor bill but have not received a reply.

The rear fenders on truck are blistering. There are bumps all along the outside of the rear fender wells. The problem is road debris and small stones getting up inside the inner fender wells and vibrating down pushing dents through to the outside of vechicle. This is going to result in accelorated rust through of the rear fenders as the finish is damaged on both sides of the panels. I have worked with the dealer, who attempted one repair (which failed) but I have been told by them and GM customer service that they will not fix the issue. The truck had 16200 miles on it when this started. I found online that other GM trucks have this issue, Chevrolet issued a service bulletin on Silverado for the same issue and other people are complaining on the Colorado owners sites but GM is refusing to make repairs. This issue is going to cause rust through and jagged bodies on all of these vechicles in very short order in northern areas.

Truck sits uneven from side to side. 1" difference at rear wheel wells when sitting on a level surface with no load in the bed and a 1/2 " difference in the front side to side. The rear overload spring leaf with rubber bumper touches upper adjacent spring leaf with no load in the bed on the driver side. Not sure if this could be a safety concern if there is a load placed in the bed causing issues in how the truck handles or could be causing premature tire wear or other issues with other suspension parts.I have been informed that this is a known issue with other Colorado trucks by the dealership I purchased the from. This truck came off of the dealership lot with this problem and GM tech. Assist. Is aware. After almost 3 months nothing has been done.

At speeds above 60 mph the sheet metal on the hood begins to ripple, flutter, and distort. This problem is well known by Chevrolet. The dealer has applied expanding foam inside the hood under warranty, but the metal continues to distort and ripple at highway speed. I am afraid the hood sheet metal will fail and the hood will come off the vehicle while driving. Chevrolet refuses to do anything further about it.

This is the second time that I have taken this vehicle to the dealer for the same problem.the first time it was leaking water from left front, left rear, and right front floor mats.this second time it was only leaking water on the left front drivers floor mats.the vehicle had just been driven when I noticed the leak.
